Event Recap: Driver Appreciation Day 2020Jubitz’s annual Driver Appreciation Day took place this past Wednesday outside of the Cascade Grill. Truckers that came to the event with their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) received a free lunch, swag bags and the same WCCE hospitality that has earned Jubitz their title as “World’s Classiest Truck Stop.”
Despite the challenges that COVID-19 (and a bit of rain) brought to the table, we put together what we hope was a memorable and sincere gesture for truck drivers. Large tents were propped up outdoors to allow for adequate social distancing.
As a travel center that has grown exponentially over the years, our workforce and customers have also grown to be incredibly diverse. We got a chance to hear individual driver’s experiences on the road, and in return shared to them why they’re so important to our economy. Here are just some of the reasons that our employees appreciate truck drivers…
“They are the underappreciated, under-recognized backbone of society and human culture to this day – not just in America, but globally. We rely on drivers with taking on the arduous task of ensuring companies keep moving and people continue to go about their daily lives unhindered. Since I was a little kid I always (and still do) look up to them as the backstage heroes; keeping the lights on. This is why I truly appreciate drivers.”
“Truck drivers bring us everything, everything that we eat, everything that keeps us entertained, everything has been on a truck at some point. Without truck drivers we wouldn’t have anything. Drivers are essential.”

Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy workplace culture that supports employee engagement.”

Jubitz is Leading the Way with Biodiesel BlendsAre you looking to reduce your company’s carbon footprint? A great first step is to research the fuel you’re using. At Jubitz, we continue to raise the bar with our biodiesel blends. Oregon law requires that all diesel sold must be at least 5 percent biodiesel (referred to as B5). Jubitz’s commitment to the environment means that most of the diesel we sell in Oregon is at least 10 percent biodiesel (B10)! We can even mix custom biodiesel blends up to B99 on demand.
Pictured, Liz Valseca, Customer Service Manager for Jubitz Fleet Services, stands in front of our biodiesel blending rack. This is where our customers can get biodiesel blends on demand.
Whether you’re purchasing custom-mixed fuel, fueling up your truck at our fuel lanes or Oregon cardlock stations, getting diesel delivered by our mobile department or filling up with diesel at our Marketplace Gas Station, you can rest assured that you’re getting great performance for less environmental impact.

Battle of the Bands XI at Ponderosa Lounge & GrillBattle of the Bands XI Round 1 was on Tuesday at the Ponderosa. It was a blast! We hosted three fantastic bands, three esteemed judges and everyone had a whole lotta fun.
The judges’ panel will change each week, but this week’s judges were Brady Goss, Autumn Everland and Donovan Raschdorf.
Robert Henry Band. This traditional country band, led by the 25-year old Robert Henry, blew the audience and the judges away! The judges were particularly impressed that their cover of “Folsom Prison” was spot-on because taking on Johnny Cash can be quite the challenge. Brady Goss even called them the best country band he’s seen in the Northwest.
Magnolia Waters performed high-energy country and Southern rock. Their cover of “Sweet Child of Mine” was impressive—it’s no surprise that they refer to their lead guitarist Christian Pond as “Baby Slash.” The judges were impressed too, particularly with lead singer Brandy Anderson’s vocals and how tight the group was overall.
The last band of the night was Matt Hopper and the Roman Candles. This American rock n roll band has been around since 1999. While they were a little less country, the judges still loved them and the audience still loved line dancing to their music!
In the end, the audience voted for Robert Henry Band, so they will be going on to the semi-finals! If you loved Magnolia Waters or Matt Hopper and the Roman Candles, never fear. You have a chance to vote for them to perform during the “Save Round” on May 29. The winner will get $1000 and an opening slot for a national act at the Ponderosa.
Battle of the Bands XI is an eight-week event, so come to the Ponderosa every Tuesday until the finale on June 19. Shows start at 8 PM, and there’s no cover. RSVP to the Facebook event to get updates on which bands are playing each night and who is moving on in the competition!
8 PM Nate Botsford
9 PM Rob Larkin and The Wayward Ones
10 PM Hawkeye Pierce
Katie Lou Ellen of Rekless Kompany, last year’s winners
We will see you there!
