Jubitz Named in 2021 Top Workplaces for Fourth Year Running

Jubitz received 2021 Top Workplaces recognition from The Oregonian for its fourth straight year. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey. The anonymous survey is administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC. The data uniquely measures 15 drivers of engaged cultures that are the key to the success of any organization. Attributes include pay and benefits to company values, productivity and leadership.

Jubitz is consistently ranked as one of the best truck stops in America and was once named the “World’s Classiest Truck Stop” by the Fox Travel Channel. Providing World Class Customer Experiences (WCCE) in all of our business dealings is not just what we do, it’s who we are. Through our WCCE Comment Card Program, our WCCE Cash Incentives, and our WCCE Champions Program, our WCCE culture has become a thriving employee-driven effort to take care of our customers and make this THE place to do business—over and over again.

So what makes Jubitz a Top Workplace?

“They treat you like an equal”

Mark Jones, a Gas Station Attendant, began his career with Jubitz in December of 2020.  He said, “I’ve had many jobs before, and this is the first one where I love the people and where they treat you like an equal. It’s a special place.” Not only does Jubitz take care of you as an employee, but they look for personal opportunities as well.  Mark shared he had issues with his car and, “Jubitz helped me cover the cost of my deductible.  It really is a place where, ‘if you take care of the business, they’ll take care of you.’”

Mark, who shared he’s 58, says he hopes to retire with the company.  He appreciates that “There’s room for growth in every department. Jubitz wants you to work here and stay here. You can’t beat it.”

“Jubitz wants you to grow as a person”

Michelle Clark, a Customer Service Account Specialist, began her career at Jubitz in March of 2011.  She started out as a Server in the Cascade Grill, went on to be a Lead, and eventually became the Assistant Manager.   She shared, “It’s not always an option to have good benefits and opportunities for advancement in the food and beverage industry, but it is at Jubitz.”

When the pandemic curtailed her work in the hospitality arena, Jubitz helped her explore new job opportunities within the company.  She recently moved into the Fleet Services department and joined the Customer Service team.  “I would never have been able to do this at a different company.  It’s a huge opportunity and I’ll forever be thankful for. Jubitz wants you to grow as a person and it’s apparent that they’re rooting for you. Everybody can give you an instance where Jubitz has gone above and beyond to show they care about you and that they’re here to help. People are engaged with each other and happy to be here and working together.”

Employees receive cash incentives, training and career development opportunities and awards for going above and beyond. In turn, their dedicated employees offer a World Class Customer Experience (WCCE) to every customer who walks in the door. Jubitz provides full-time employees with access to medical, dental and vision insurance. The benefits only get better with free disability insurance, free group term life insurance and a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This is all in addition to paid time off (PTO), a 401k retirement plan and employee meal discounts.

Spread Holiday Cheer and Shop Local

Many businesses in Portland, Oregon, and nationwide, are facing challenges this year. One way to help these local businesses is to continue to support them — even when they must change their hours or alter their operations in other ways. Supporting these small and local companies and restaurants allows these organizations to keep their employees, continue operations and have hope for a brighter future.

Supporting Portland

Portland has numerous local companies and restaurants that are struggling this year. Instead of the usual packed stores, catered holiday gatherings and holiday markets, there are closed doors. Thankfully, there are still many ways to contribute to the local economy and keep Portland’s unique city-offerings alive. Many organizations have banded together and used strength in numbers to promote themselves and their products and receive support from others tasked with similar struggles. Travel Portland has published a list of attractions that feature many of these grassroots groups who are hosting outdoor window-shopping events and virtual marketplaces. It also has safety suggestions for those who choose to do in-person shopping.

Using Social Media to Stick Together

Another way folks are sticking together is through the use of social media. People are staying connected by using hashtags on posts to find friends, community and businesses to support. Streaming live events has also gained popularity. Everything from concerts to bingo to dance parties are taking place in peoples’ living rooms. Other organizations are finding ways to bring experiences to life via drive-thru! In Portland, the Oregon Zoo is hosting its annual ZooLights celebration for view from the comfort of your car. Drive-thru isn’t just for restaurants anymore although many places are pivoting to offer take-out and partnering with delivery services.

Keeping with Holiday Traditions

Here at Jubitz, we’re keeping the season’s traditions going by adapting to the times too. The Cascade Grill is currently taking reservations for a home-style, fresh take-out Christmas Dinner meal on December 25th. These individual dinners allow you to still get a taste of tradition without eating leftovers for weeks on end. We’re also open seven days a week for take-out, curbside delivery and delivery via Uber Eats and GrubHub.

The holidays will look different for many people, but it doesn’t have to be a sad or lonely season. You can still take care of yourself by doing things like ordering meals to-go, calling or video chatting with loved ones, sending snail mail to friends and so much more.

Event Recap: Driver Appreciation Day 2020

Jubitz’s annual Driver Appreciation Day took place this past Wednesday outside of the Cascade Grill. Truckers that came to the event with their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) received a free lunch, swag bags and the same WCCE hospitality that has earned Jubitz their title as “World’s Classiest Truck Stop.”

Despite the challenges that COVID-19 (and a bit of rain) brought to the table, we put together what we hope was a memorable and sincere gesture for truck drivers. Large tents were propped up outdoors to allow for adequate social distancing.

Jubitz appreciates truck drivers 365 days a year

As a travel center that has grown exponentially over the years, our workforce and customers have also grown to be incredibly diverse. We got a chance to hear individual driver’s experiences on the road, and in return shared to them why they’re so important to our economy. Here are just some of the reasons that our employees appreciate truck drivers…

“I’ve worked with drivers over the last decade, and I’m reminded constantly of their humor, hard-work ethic, friendliness, mobile tech-savviness, and stories. They are truly the eyes and the heart of the open road.”

– William, IT Services Manager

“They are the underappreciated, under-recognized backbone of society and human culture to this day – not just in America, but globally. We rely on drivers with taking on the arduous task of ensuring companies keep moving and people continue to go about their daily lives unhindered. Since I was a little kid I always (and still do) look up to them as the backstage heroes; keeping the lights on. This is why I truly appreciate drivers.”

– CJ, Dispatch Manager

“Truck drivers bring us everything, everything that we eat, everything that keeps us entertained, everything has been on a truck at some point. Without truck drivers we wouldn’t have anything. Drivers are essential.”

– Gina, Driver Services Shift Leader

Jubitz is Leading the Way with Biodiesel Blends

Are you looking to reduce your company’s carbon footprint? A great first step is to research the fuel you’re using. At Jubitz, we continue to raise the bar with our biodiesel blends. Oregon law requires that all diesel sold must be at least 5 percent biodiesel (referred to as B5). Jubitz’s commitment to the environment means that most of the diesel we sell in Oregon is at least 10 percent biodiesel (B10)! We can even mix custom biodiesel blends up to B99 on demand.

How do biodiesel blends help the environment?

How do biodiesel blends benefit your diesel engines?

Whether you’re purchasing custom-mixed fuel, fueling up your truck at our fuel lanes or Oregon cardlock stations, getting diesel delivered by our mobile department or filling up with diesel at our Marketplace Gas Station, you can rest assured that you’re getting great performance for less environmental impact.
